Arts and Crafts Bohemian meets Mid Century design in this classic daybed couch.
The walnut frame has a clean streamlined quality that complements Mid Century decor, yet in the details the Artisan design touches on Craftsman furniture.
The circular side posts double as legs and corner frame posts contrast nicely with the linear back panels, spaced as they would be on a traditional Arts and Crafts furniture piece.
The back railing has a wavelike curve shaped with an opening to mimic the circular dimension of the side posts.
At the top of each corner post there is a smooth hollow that beckons the sitter to run a finger around it.
The front lower rail is solid and rectangular as are the side rails yet the cushioned side panels and the bottom cushion have a soft fullness to them that welcomes the sitter and offers a coziness not often found on a wood frame couch with sleek lines.
Doing double duty as a daybed this couch is extremely comfortable when used for sleeping or sitting.
The frame has been reconditioned and the joints re-glued; the new cushions, webbing and upholstery breathe new life into this vintage piece. Please note that there are a few marks on the wood and a small notch on the bottom of one post... but in the case of this couch we see those details as character adding.
Fabric is a dark olive-gray-green with cream and burgundy accents.
Measurements: 85 1/4" W x 31" D x 27 1/2" H at back cushion, 24 1/2" H at back of frame. 15 1/2" Seat height.
