San Foundry Patterns Set #4
Original beautifully handcrafted wooden patterns, each a piece of historical functional beauty. Hang them for a unique wall sculpture, create a dramatic room divider or mobile, or just pile them in the corner and let them pique your guests curiosity.

The one-of-a-kind wood molds date from 1890-1920. Sizes vary from 23" to 12" in diameter, 7" to 1/2 " in depth.

Founded by Glaswegian immigrant Donald Mackenzie and New Yorker Charles W. Pomeroy in 1852, The San Jose Foundry was an established resource for iron, brass, bronze, aluminum castings and structural steel. These wooden molds were handcrafted to create gears and working parts for machines such as windmills, gang-plows, mining and flour milling gear, threshing machines and brick makers. The process started with the draftsman's drawing, which was then passed to the master pattern makers who would create it to size. This process had to be perfect, because once the mold was established; it was used to make thousands of manufactured pieces.

What we have here are four original beautifully handcrafted wooden patterns, each a piece of historical functional beauty.
