What is a Surfing Cowboy you ask? It is a term that Wayne & Donna Gunther coined over twelve years ago, to capture the lifestyle of freedom, transformation, and reinvention that you can only find in California. It’s the reason why people come to California from all over the world; it’s the essence of the The Wild West, whether you find it on the range, in the ocean or living in your heart. If you want to learn more about the Gunthers, click the link with their picture at the bottom of the page.
Give me some of that! Everybody wants a piece of the California Dream and that’s what our shop stocks. At Surfing Cowboys you can get a ray of sunshine to stuff in your suitcase, and find furniture that brings a slice of California’s distinctive style into your home.
So…When do you get the new stuff?

Vintage is the “old” Green
Surfing Cowboys was green even before green was green…it’s how we live our lives, and how we started the shop. We respect, recycle and celebrate the style from past decades, whether it is the table we have breakfast on, or the clothes we wear.
5 Great Green things about buying Vintage:
1. You are producing less waste by saving a perfectly
good, handcrafted piece of furniture from the scrap heap.
2. Old wood versus new wood, it is stronger by nature.
3. Lessening the demand for new goods reduces the strain on the environment and our natural resources.
4. Creating jobs for local craftsmen who are expert upholsterers, wood-workers, and refinishers.
5. Keeping that carbon footprint small! We buy locally and do deliveries in our Sprinter van.
Please note that we do have an expanding range of carefully picked, newly made items... they are all made responsibly and with heart. We always meet the designers & craftspeople. We aim to spread the wealth amongst good people with integrity and share the special gems they create with our customers.
