Newport Harbor Yacht Club Paddleboard, Original Vintage Condition, 1930's
Newport Harbor Yacht Club Paddleboard, Original Vintage Condition, 1930's
Newport Harbor Yacht Club Paddleboard 1930ís. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Newport Harbor Yacht Club History. This paddleboard bears the emblem of the Yacht Club and another emblem, yet to be identified. Itís historical significance can not be overlooked.

This paddleboard was purpose made to be a viewing board. There is a circular cutout in its center that is sealed on the bottom with clear plexi-glass. This is so one could paddle around the harbor and view the marine life below. We have no attribution but renowned paddleboard maker Pete Peterson made such craft and it is fair to say that this board was made by someone who knew exactly what they were doing. So who knows if Mr Peterson had a hand in its manufacture.

The board is twelve feet long and is of a skeleton wooden frame construction. The deck is mahogany and the bottom is marine ply with solid mahogany rails and a layered, built up, rounded tail. The board is glued and brass nailed together. Just fore of the viewing hole there is an inverted V shaped wave guard that was to prevent water splashing over ones head while the viewing hole was in use. This also is original and is fastened with brass screws. The drain hole and plug are also brass.

This paddleboard is in amazing condition and shows very little wear for its age. It displays well as a solo board and would make an excellent addition to any Nautical or Surf Collection.... especially one belonging to a Newport Beach California resident.
