California Ceramist Brent Bennett clay tiles with image of schooner ship surrounded by an orange-rust felt matte and framed in gold. The unglazed tiles are asymmetrical and masterfully pieced together. Clay measures 17 3/4" x 17 1/2" frame measures 24" x 24".
Brent Bennet was part of the California modernist movement, which was defined by their use of natural organic materials, and utilitarian pieces. Brent was taught by Raul Cornel whom he had a partnership with during the late 60's.
